These are called muskals and are Bulgarian Rose Oil Souvenirs. They are hand-made engraved wooden casing and contain a vial with 1.3 ml rose water from Rosa Damascena.
Bulgaria produces about 85% of all rose oil in the world. It’s also known as the land of roses.
We grow Rosa Damascena in a region in Bulgaria located just south of the Balkan Mountains and the eastern part of the lower Sredna Gora chain to the south called The Rose Valley. Its rose-growing industry has been cultivated there for centuries, and which produces 85% of the world’s rose oil.
Each year, we have festivals that are held celebrating roses and rose oil.
Another kind of souvenir with rose water that you can buy.
